Liu Jin was born in 1973 in China’s southwestern city of Chengdu. He earned B.A. in photography from Beijing Film Academy in 1999.
Jin’s career in photojournalism began in 1997, and he joined Agence France-Presse (AFP) in China two years later.
In 2008, Liu Jin won the Award of Excellence (Spot News) of the 66th Pictures of the Year International (POYI).
In 2015, Liu Jin transitioned from photojournalism to focus on his artistic practice, establishing himself as a visual artist primarily working with photography.
In 2021, Liu Jin published his first photo book 《岩石與棕櫚樹》/“The Rock and The Palm Tree”, which features the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2002 to 2009.
As of today, Jin Liu lives and works as an artist in Austin, Texas, with his family.
